Description
An item is an object that exists only within the player's inventory and hands, or displayed in item frames or armor stands.
It includes blocks while they are in inventory, items that place a block (seeds, redstone dust) or an entity (minecart, spawn eggs, etc.) version of themselves. Put simply, they are an item when in the inventory, and a block when placed.
Item properties include:
Items can be divided into renewable resources or non-renewable resources.
Some items can be eaten or drank as food.
Stacking
- Most items stack up to 64. This includes all blocks.
- Some items, such as snowballs, empty buckets, eggs, signs and ender pearls, stack up to 16.
- Some items, like first aid bandages stack up to 4.
- Some other items do not stack at all, such as anything with a durability (weapons, armor, and tools), filled buckets.
Notable changes
- Minecarts and boats stack up to 8.
- Bottles and potions stack up to 8.
