Stryder
Stryders are large Octopus-Shrimp like creatures.
Behavior
Stryders can be seen roaming around large lakes or rivers looking for prey. Once it has spotted its prey it will grab it and place it underneath its head to start draining the life out of it victim.
Spawning
Stryder can spawn in any Overwold biome, except biomes that have the following biome tags:
- Ocean
- Beach
Can only spawn in water.
Taming
Much like a garden variety of other mobs in the mod, Stryders can be tamed, and will require you to make tasty treats for them before you can do so. In order to try and tame one, you will likely need more than one treat, because these mobs are greedy and will try to kill you at the same time.
If the Stryder wants more treats, it will say so in the chat. If not and it stops attacking you, it will read, “The Stryder seems to love you now!” Congratulations, you’ve tamed a mob you can ride the oceans with! Now all you’ll need is an Aquatic Saddle and pet armor (for extra protection) and you’re ready swim in the oceans.
Sub Species
For every Stryder that spawns, there is a 10% chance for it to be an Uncommon variants. Uncommon Stryder can be Ashen or Scarlet. An Ashen Stryder has a blue-green body and tentacles with green tips on them, and a Scarlet Stryder has an orange, yellow and red body with pink tips on the tentacles. Uncommon Stryders have higher stats than a regular Stryder. This does not change their behavior.
Pet Stryder Abilities
Pet Stryders gain the ability to be used as a mount. It is not advice to use a Stryder as a mount as they are extremely slow compared to others. They also gain the ability to pick up mobs. Unlike most other mounts once the stryder has picked it up it will start to leach of it.
