Overview

Many Minecraft users normally will be used to having some graphical enhancements in the form of resource packs and shaders. For copyright reasons code from optifine could not be bundled with RLCraft and information about how to install them on CurseForge and Technic launchers has been limited.

Most people playing RLCraft on either CurseForge or Technic launchers might feel installing graphic modifications seem difficult due to lack of instructions or information elsewhere. Possibly experiencing more rage than respawning in a lava pool. Thankfully the reality is that once you know how to do it, installation is actually very simple.

Warning: When you download these files and you need to make sure that you get the versions compatible with version 1.12.2.

Installing Optifine

This is different from vanilla because Minecraft Launcher is not used so Optifine profile in the Launcher will not be created.

Instead, download the .jar file and place it in the mods folder of RLCraft installation, done.

To clarify, do not run the .jar file. Apparently, it's an executable .jar file with a window installer as well as a valid Minecraft mod file.

Download Optifine 1.12.2 HD U G5 from here. Newer versions crash.

Installing Shaders

After optifine is in your mod folder, you can download a suitable shader and leave it in your modpack shader folder, turning on the shader via the options->graphics.

Sildur's shaders is a good choice.

Installing Resource Packs

Resource packs aka texture packs change the default minecraft graphics into something special, there are many choices and different people are going to find different packs suitable to their own tastes.  The RLCraft founder suggests Chromahills, though the cartoon look might not be for everyone. Clarity is a HD pack that looks for though seeking a HD/realism look. Of course, there are a lot more choices just find what you like and download it.

Resource packs are added in the usual way, you download the correct version and move it to the resource pack folder after that you turn it on in-game in options->resource pack.

Conclusion

Customizing your graphics in RLCraft is simple and straight forward once the method for installing optifine for a modpack is known.
