Beholder
The Beholder, now known as Naxiris since 1.12.2, is a dangerous mob found near mountains. These hostile masses of eyeballs and tentacles are hungry for magic energy.
Spawning
Beholder can spawn in biomes that have the following biome tags:
- Mountain
- Extreme hills
- Mesa plateau
Beholder spawners can be found in Aberrant Stations (Lycanites Dungeon).
Behavior
Beholders are known to fire a deadly laser storm of arcane energy to defeat their foes. Take caution when attacking with melee weapons up close as they will eat any beneficial effects you have to heal themselves for 150% of the damage dealt to them. Their orbs explode on impact with the ground and will break blocks.
Taming
Much like a garden variety of other mobs in the mod, Beholders can be tamed, and will require you to make Aberration Treats for them before you can do so. In order to try and tame one, you will likely need more than one treat, because these mobs are greedy and will try to kill you at the same time.
If the Beholder wants more treats, it will say so in the chat. If not and it stops attacking you, it will read, “The Beholder seems to love you now!” Congratulations, you’ve tamed a mob you can fly around with! Now all you’ll need is a saddle and pet armor (so that you don’t die while flying) and you’re ready to take to the skies.
Pet Beholder Abilities
Pet Beholders can shoot Arcane Laser Storms. It can also be mounted.
Malevolent Observer
In a Lush Tomb, a modified Verdant Beholder can appear as a boss. This boss is called Malevolent Observer, and can drop 50+ diamonds, an Arcane Laser Storm Scepter, and an Aberration Soulstone
