Bloodmoon is an event mod that prevents players from sleeping, and greatly increases gaming difficulty for 12 hours in-game time. While the event is triggered, the sky is turned red, and the surrounding area will gain a darkening fog to reduce visibility. Once begun, mobs will be able to spawn as near as a single block away from the player, and the number of mobs spawning is increased 4x over. The Bloodmoon has a configurable 5% chance of triggering each night, by default.

As soon as it's triggered, a red-colored text will pop-up in the players Chat, usually at dusk when the moon is set to begin rising. It usually reads ''The Bloodmoon is rising..'' followed up with the originally-white moon gradually eclipsing red, while the world will begin to appear relatively darker.

While mob spawning is noticeably higher, players can easily survive an impromptu Bloodmoon by going underground. Higher spawning rates of monsters only apply to those on the surface level of the modded world, thus making places like caves and basements an advantageous safe haven. Monsters brought in by this event can also be configured to disappear with the break of dawn.

The Bloodmoon mod is made by Lumien231, based entirely off of the uncommon nighttime event seen in Terraria. The newest version of this mod available to players is currently 1.12.2. Older versions of this mod are still available to download on CurseForge as well, with the furthest game version for players being 1.8.

How do I spawn the Bloodmoon?

Players will not be able to spawn the Bloodmoon without cheats enabled. Though if the player does enable cheats, one can easily spawn in the Bloodmoon by typing /bloodmoon force into their chatbar. The following night will trigger one to rise. There is no known cheat however to stop this event once it's activated.
