Jousts are desert-dwelling arthropod mobs that often roam open deserts in packs. These packs are often lead by an Alpha, who will command its minions to charge at anything they deem a threat.

Spawning

Jouste can spawn in biomes that have the following biome tags:

  • Sandy
  • Wasteland
  • Mesa

Jouste can not spawn in biomes that have the following biome tags:

  • Cold
  • Snowy

Breeding

Jousts can be bread by feeding 2 Jousts Cactus Green. This will create a baby Joust. If they are attacked they will become hostile and can no longer be bred. They will also be no longer be bred if an Alpha is nearby and commands the normal Jousts to attack.

Variants

For every Jouste that spawns, there is a 10% chance for it to be an Uncommon variants. Uncommon Normal Jousts can be Lux or Russet. A Lux Jouste is a sandy white version of the Normal variant. A Russet Joust is a maroon version of the normal Jouste. Alpha Jousts also have 2 variants which differ from the Normal Joust variants. Uncommon Alpha Jouste can be Verdant or Violet. A Verdant Joust has mostly green body with a bit of light blue mixed in. Violet Jousts have a mix of purple, pink and orange on their body. Alpha Jousts cant have Normal Joust variants and vise versa. Uncommon Jousts have double the health of a regular Joust. This does not change their behavior.

Behavior

Normal Jousts are Neutral and only attack when attacked. Alpha Jousts are hostile and when near players will attack. When alpha Jousts are near other Jousts they can command the other Jousts to attack the player. When 2 or more Alpha Jousts meet they will start attacking each other and can command the other Jousts to attack the other Alpha Jouste.

If it does come to combat, a single Joust, or even a single Alpha, can be easily dispatched. They basically attack like a larger, faster, not necessarily stronger, zombie: They run at you and attack with low knockback. Due to their low health, they should be able to be taken down with ease. Spears are recommended, as it prevents the Joust from getting too close to you.
