Scaling Health is a Mod that affects how much health mobs have and how much damage they can do to the player. It also adds in heart crystals and heart shards, allowing the player to increase their maximum health, as well as bandages and medikits, both of which works separately to the items added by rough tweaks and First aid.

Items

There are several items that the mod provides to help you survive and become stronger:

Uses and where to obtain them:

  • Heart Dust: is obtainable from breaking Monster Spawners and occasional loot found throughout the world, only used as a recipe to make Medikits, Bandages, Heart Crystal Shards and Vampire-Arrows.
  • Heart Crystal Shard: obtainable from every mob killed (passive mobs have a much lower drop chance). Blights can drop 2-8 whilst bosses can drop 8-16. You can also mine Heart Container ore to obtain shards. Used to make Heart Containers, can be crafted from 9 heart dust.
  • Heart Container: used to increase maximum health by 1 heart each use, requires 8 magic and can only be crafted using 9 heart crystal shards. A maximum of 10 extra hearts can be gained from it, doubling the players base health.
  • Heart Container ore: found between Y level 35 and 10, found more frequently and in greater size the further out from spawn you go (effects stop at 50,000 blocks away from spawn), can be mined to get Heart Crystal Shards.
  • Bandages: Restores 30% of your maximum health over 60 seconds, requires 5 seconds use time. Can be found from Monster Spawners, Chests and can be crafted using 3 Heart Dust and 3 paper.
  • Medkit: restores 70% of your maximum health over 35 seconds, requires 5 seconds use time, can be found from Monster Spawners, Chests and can be crafted using 2 Heart Dust, 1 Iron Ingot, 1 Glistering Melon, 2 Bandages and 3 White Terracotta.

Effects on world

Blights

Scaling Health causes Blight mobs to spawn, these are dangerous mobs that can be any non-boss mob and are noticeable from the purple fire effect, these mobs permanently have Strength II, Speed IV, Fire Resistance and are immune to suffocation via blocks, these mobs also have 4x the amount of regular health they would have and have a higher chance to spawn with enchanted gear. If a creeper is a blight it will always be super charged. Killing these mobs will grant 40x the amount of regular XP they drop and 2-8 heart crystal shards, and a message will appear in chat notifying you when one is killed.

if a blight is left alive for long enough it will despawn like all other mobs and will "fall out of the world" after a bloodmoon. Mega battle towers always have a guaranteed blight battle tower golem at the top of it making them a lot more dangerous and rewarding. A mob being blight has no effect on whether it will be infernal or not and has a separate chance of occurring when spawning in a blight.

Difficulty

Difficulty affects how much health and damage mobs do as players explore the world, go further out and as time passes, it is currently disabled in regular versions of the game. Default difficulty is always set to 1 and wont increase in normal versions of the game leaving mobs to usually have an extra heart or slightly less and have no damage bonus, this has a major effect on the hardcore configs of the game however with mobs getting stronger as the player ventures out making the game considerably harder if the player is looking for dungeons to loot
