RLCraft Wiki:Templates

There are many templates in use in RLCraft Wiki; these are only a subset, representing some of the most important and commonly used ones. If you feel that a template belongs on this page, do not hesitate to add it.

What are templates?

Wiki templates provide a means to insert the same content over and over across pages. This saves editors effort of duplicating the same content over and over, and also helps ensure consistency.

Templates are generally shown with the format required to use the template (e.g. {{delete}}). Clicking the template name takes you to the template's page, where you can see what it looks like and how it is used.

Detailed instructions on the usage of each template should exist on either:

  1. a subpage using {{documentation}}
  2. the template page itself (inside "<noinclude></noinclude>" tags)

...with potentially more information on the template's talk page.

For more information on templates, see mw:Help:Templates.

Article management templates

Nominate an article for deletion

{{delete}}

Compare the article to game version

{{Article Version}}

  • Add this to the top of each article, with |version=x.x.x parameter as applicable.

Mark content as removed from the modpack

{{RemovedContent}}

  • Add this to the top of an article that is no longer part of the modpack.

Bring attention to a short page

{{stub}}

  • Add this to an article to noticeably mark it as a Stub. It will add the article to Category:Stub pages

Mark page as missing information

{{incomplete}}

  • Same as above but for pages with more existing content.

Indicate active editing

{{wip}} / {{WIP}} / {{Work_in_progress}}

  • Optional: Add this to indicate your active work on a particular page or section.

Mark page as needing a cleanup

{{cleanup}}

  • Add this to an article to mark it as being in need of improved writing/structure. Adds article to Category:Article cleanup

Disambiguation pages

{{disambiguation}} / {{disambig}}

  • If you have several articles that have similar or identical names, you may wish to create a "disambiguation" page at the main article name, or alternatively "{Article Name} (Disambiguation)" (example: Saddle (Disambiguation)), with the articles taking including a specifying suffix in brackets. For example:
Pixie <-- disambiguation page, with links to:
Pixie (Familiar Fauna)
Pixie (Ice and Fire)
And a mention of
Pixen (Lycanites Mobs)
  • Using {{disambiguation}} marks an article as a disambiguation page by adding a banner to the article and categorizing it under Category:Disambiguations. Add bullet pointed links to the various articles under the banner.
  • For more information, see Help:Disambiguation.

General wiki templates

Quote

{{Quote}}

  • Pre-formatted uniform quotation style that can be easily edited--if necessary--on the template page rather than on every article individually.

Image link

{{Li}}

  • Adds a small image (uploaded as "{{BASEPAGENAME}}.png") right before the link. Can be used for aesthetic purposes or adding "visual clarity" to what the link pertains to.
  • Example: Iron Ingot.png Iron Ingot

Show template syntax without invoking it

{{t|<template>}}

  • This template allows displaying template code (with a link to the templates) without using the template itself. It is used extensively on this page.
