Darklings are small mobs that resemble crabs or spiders. They spawn in low light levels. They have a chance to appear with the message "A shadowy creature has spawned from the darkness!". Like spiders, Darklings are capable of climbing walls. They latch on to you and suck the life out of you, and although they aren't particularly dangerous, they can team up with other mobs that spawn in the darkness and easily ruin your mining trip.

Spawning

Darkling can spawn in any Overwold biome, or in The End. Can only spawn underground (y ≤ 50).

Darkling spawners can be found in Template Doomlike Dungeons, Urban Doomlike Dungeons, Aberrant Stations (Lycanites Dungeon), Shadow Labyrinths (Lycanites Dungeon) and Dungeons (Vanilla). Darkling spawners can also be found in End Cities.

Darklings can spawn if you spend too much time in a low light area.
