Geist is a hostile Undead mob that is summoned through the death of a mob.

Bestiary Description

Geists are opportunistic undead that deform and climb into other undead lifeforms or corpses and feed off whatever their host is capable of killing. when their host dies, Geists leap out and reform for a surprise attack!

Spawning

Geist can spawn in biomes that have the following biome tags:

  • Spooky

Geist can spawn in The End.

Geist spawners can be found in Template Doomlike Dungeons, Urban Doomlike Dungeons, Shadow Labyrinths (Lycanites Dungeon) and Dungeons (Vanilla).

Every time an Undead Mob (e.g. Zombie; Reaper) is killed, there is a 3% chance of a Geist to spawn.

A different version of the Giest is also spawned during the 2nd phase of the fight with Amalgalich. These Geists swell until they burst with large areas of Shadowfire. Killing them before they pop prevents this, but it still leaves some Shadowfire, like a normal Giest.

Variants

For every Geist that spawns, there is a 10% chance for it to be an Uncommon variants. Uncommon Geist can be Verdant or Dark. A Verdant Geist has a green body and a blue eye, while a Dark Geist has a black body and a red eye. Uncommon Geist have double the health of a regular Geist

Behavior

Geists will run at the player and attempt to hit them. When the player is hit, they will receive a Blindness debuff for 3 seconds. When a Geist is killed, it will release Shadow Fire in a 3x3 square around itself. While this doesn't burn, it will set the Decay effect for 5 seconds until the player leaves the Shadow Fire or it is extinguished, either by breaking or timeout.
