Javelin

The javelin is a one-handed thrown weapon introduced by Spartan Weaponry, with stronger variants included by Spartan Fire. It currently holds the title of both highest DPS and damage per throw over the Throwing Axe and the Throwing Knife, albeit with the longest charge time. It also has the lowest ammo capacity, at 4 charges.

Because it has a thrown damage bonus of up to +200% and a faster charge time than attack speed, using a javelin in melee sacrifices 80% of its potential DPS. Additionally, though it is possible to hold an item in the off-hand without penalty, it is impossible to use that item because the javelin overrides any right-click functionality it may have.

The javelin functions best when used as a ranged one-hit KO option in conjunction with a dedicated melee weapon to deal with quicker targets. The low ammo capacity and slower charge time diminishes the stopping power of the javelin, so beware of fast and erratic enemies.

As with all thrown Spartan Weaponry weapons:

  • Move speed is slower while charging.
  • Max charge is reached when the hitmarker reaches the crosshair in the center of your screen; You do not need to wait for the weapon to fully draw back like a bow.
  • Thrown ammo can be retrieved, even if the attack landed.
  • Durability is only decreased when an attack is successful, and when the weapon hits 0 durability, one charge of ammo is permanently lost.*
