Lance
The lance is a one-handed weapon added by Spartan Weaponry, with stronger variants included by Spartan Fire. Its base stats are extremely poor, with less DPS than a pickaxe, but it has up to a +200% base damage bonus while riding a mount or vehicle, scaling with speed (this includes boats and minecarts). It is also one of the few one-handed weapons that boasts an increased Reach (alongside the Spear (Spartan Weaponry) and Spear (Better Survival)), giving it increased utility.
From diamond onward, the lance has a higher DPS than virtually all other one-handed weapons. This makes it a formidable choice that keeps the off hand open, while Reach also synergizes well with mounted combat, where maneuverability is generally more difficult or restricted. Beware: because the damage scales with speed, the lance will require some practice to properly handle to its fullest potential.
Crafting
All lances require a Handle, a Pole, and 1 piece of the desired material, stacked vertically with the material on top. Spartan Fire weapons require a Witherbone Handle and Witherbone Pole instead of a basic Handle and Pole, barring steel.

*The riding bonus scales with speed. The exact calculations are currently unknown, though experimental testing shows that a minecart on powered rails provides the +200%, a boat at full speed in water reaches about +80%, while a manually propelled minecart gives around +33%.
**DPS is calculated by multiplying base damage and attack speed; The +200% base riding damage bonus is the only modifier taken into account.
