Rapier

The Rapier is a one-handed weapon added by Spartan Weaponry, with stronger variants included by Spartan Fire. Its base damage is low, but it makes up for this with one of the highest usable attack speeds in the game. It also has the Damage Absorption and Unarmored Damage Bonus (+100%) traits. This not only provides survivability, but also potentially allows for a massively increased DPS. Note that the unarmored bonus is also negated by natural armor of more than 2.0 points.

Though the rapier has a damage bonus, the unarmored condition is quite limiting. Its real power comes from a high attack speed: flat damage bonuses like the vanilla Strength effect or the various Sharpness enchantments are made significantly more effective. Its attack speed also provides substantial single-target stopping power, as the user can quickly recover from missed attacks. Furthermore, the rapier is an effective early-game weapon due to its damage absorption, as powerful armor is often not an option early on.
