Chupacabra
Chupacabra are chaos beast mobs from Lycanites Mobs that are driven by their extreme hunger for flesh.
Spawning
Chupacabra can spawn in any Overwold biome, or in The End. Can only spawn underground (y ≤ 50).
Chupacabra spawners can be found in Template Doomlike Dungeons, Urban Doomlike Dungeons, Aberrant Stations (Lycanites Dungeon) and Dungeons (Vanilla).
Taming
Chupacabra can be tamed using Beast Treats after reaching level 2 knowledge. The main reason a player may want to tame a Chupacabra is as a battle companion, due to their aggressive nature and leech ability, which allows them to heal when they damage another creature. They can also be farmed for their meat and other drops, however this process is far more involved than a cow, sheep or any other passive mob if you wish to automate it.
Breeding
Similar to Pinky, Chupacabra can be bred using 'large' live animals. 'Large' meaning that it excludes babies, chickens, pigs and other 'small' animals. This means that Chupacabra will enter "love mode" once they have attacked the live animal once. Theoretically, you could reuse the same animal multiple times even on different Chupacabra. Variants
For every Chupacabra that spawns, there is a 10% chance for it to be an Uncommon variants. Uncommon Chupacabra can be Violet or Verdant. A Violet Chupacabra is purple and black with a lighter purple face, while a Verdant Chupacabra is dark green and black with a lighter green face. Uncommon Chupacabra have higher stats than a regular Chupacabra. This does not change their behavior.
Behavior
Chupacabra spawn in dark areas such as caves, which means they spawn with lots of other mobs to hunt. They hunt creatures, killing them for their meat. When a Chupacabra is met with 2 or more prey, the Chupacabra will go for the one with more health. This can be used against them to make a Chupacabra meat farm, which may be desirable, as their meat will give the consumer lifesteal.
Phosphorescent Chupacabra
A summonable mini boss called the Phosphorescent Chupacabra can be summoned using the Phosphorescent Chupacabra Altar. It can also have a 0.5% chance of spawning when a normal Chupacabra does. Phosphorescent Chupacabra can also be bred to farm copious amounts of Beast Soulstones, Chupacabra meat and leather.
Anarchical Hound
In an Aberrant Station, a modified Phosphorescent Chupacabra can appear as a boss. This boss is called Anarchical Hound, and can drop 10+ diamonds and a Beast Soulstone
Trivia
- Chupacabra used to be tamed by breeding two and feeding the baby.
- The Chupacabra's name is inspired by the mythical creature of the same name. The same applies with the Barghest.
- The life-stealing ability of the Chupacabra is also inspired by the mythical creature, who would drain the life of goats with their fangs.
