Banshees are Phase Elemental mobs from Lycanites Mobs that phase through reality to attack their targets.

Spawning

Banshee can spawn in biomes that have the following biome tags:

  • Spooky

Banshees can spawn in areas that have all of the following (3) blocks:

  • Wood Plank (vanilla, any type of wood)
  • Cobwebs
  • Rails

...meaning that they can usually be found in Mineshafts and 4 Tower Dungeons.

Banshee spawners can be found in Dungeons (Vanilla).

Summoning

If the player has a Knowledge Rank 2 of the Geonach and Djinn, they can be summoned as temporary allied minions with a Summoning Staff. The two minions can then fuse into a Banshee if they are close enough together. They can not be tamed, only temporarily summoned.

variants

For every Banshee that spawns, there is a 10% chance for it to be an Uncommon variants. Uncommon Banshees can be Scarlet or Keppel. A Scarlet Banshee is red with green eyes, while a Keppel Banshee is teal with orange eyes. Uncommon Banshees have higher stats than a regular Banshee. This does not change their behavior.

Levels

See Creature Levels for more information.

Banshees, like other mobs from Lycanites Mobs, can spawn at higher Levels. Local Area Difficulty can increase the Lvl of a Banshee. A Banshee created by fusion will always be Lvl 20. Banshees spawned in Dungeons will also be higher Lvl than normal.

Behavior

The Banshee will circle around a player phasing through blocks. In addition, a Banshee will avoid the gaze of the player and move away from the player when stared at, this is troublesome if you're using shield because it will be harder to block the attack . When hit or attacking she will screech. On attack she induces Fear, causing the player to run in random directions.

The Banshee is notorious for making mineshafts incredibly dangerous, as it can cause the player to run head first into Cobwebs, Cave Spiders, or even uncovered Lava. In addition, fighting a Banshee off can be troublesome as looking at it to attack it will result in it phasing into the wall to avoid your gaze. Finally, because of the abundance of their spawn requirement in a Mineshaft, you may encounter multiple at a time, making it very difficult to deal with them all.

Like Grues, Banshee can spawn underground in a mineshaft and phase through to the surface and attack the player unexpectedly.

Fusion

If a wild Djinn and Geonach fuse, they can form a Lvl 20 Banshee. If the Djinn and Geonach are both Uncommon, the resulting Banshee will also be Uncommon. Because Djinn are found high in the sky and Geonachs when mining, this method of spawning is incredibly rare.
