Xaphan are floating acid elementals from Lycanites Mobs that drip slimy goo everywhere they go.

Spawning

Every time lava is transformed into obsidian (using water), there is a 1 % chance of a Xaphan to spawn.

Xaphan can spawn from Acid.

Xaphan spawners can be found in Dungeons (Vanilla).

Summoning

If the player has a Knowledge Rank of at least 2 of the Cinder and Jengu, they can be summoned as temporary allied minions with a Summoning Staff. The two minions can then fuse into an Xaphan if they are close enough together. They can not be tamed, only temporarily summoned.

variants

For every Xaphan that spawns, there is a 10% chance for it to be an Uncommon variants. Uncommon Xaphan can be Golden or Scarlet. A Golden Xaphan is gold with bright yellow orbs, while a Scarlet Xaphan is a rusty color with red orbs. Uncommon Xaphan have double the health of a regular Xaphan. This does not change their behavior.

Levels

See Creature Levels for more information.

Xaphan, like other mobs from Lycanites Mobs, can spawn at higher Levels. Local Area Difficulty can increase the Lvl of an Xaphan. An Xaphan created by fusion will always be Lvl 20. Xaphan spawned in Dungeons will also be higher Lvl than normal.

Behavior

Xaphan will float slightly above the ground aimlessly until they see a target. They will then rise into the air and start spraying 20-30 acid projectiles which apply penetration (lowering your defense and armor) all over the place in a large area, similar to how the Djinn attacks. Due to the high number of projectiles and large area that they attack, these mobs are prone to provoking multiple other creatures in the area and starting a large-scale battle.

Fusion

If a wild Cinder and Jengu fuse, they can form a Lvl 20 Xaphan. If the Cinder and Jengu are both Uncommon, the resulting Xaphan will also be Uncommon.

Trivia

  • In versions of RLCraft before 2.8, there was a bug that would make a large amount of Xaphan spawn when a stone block above a lava source block was powered by a redstone signal.
