This article is about vanilla Minecraft 1.12.2 concept. For information not listed here, see Minecraft Wiki Nether.

RLCraft's Nether introcuces new Ores, useful Items, Enemies, Biomes and Structures, courtesy of BetterNether, Doomlike Dungeons, Battle Towers and Lycanites Mobs. There are far more structures and plant-like organisms, as well as generated structures, than in a typical 1.12 Nether. The dimension is also far more dangerous due to the hoards of enemy creatures that spawn there. It is intended as a late-endgame dimension, and as such, players should prepare themselves well before entering (see #Tips). It is essential for progression, as Rahovart is fought in it and Cincinnasite, used to create a portal to the Lost Cities Dimension, is collected in it.

Biomes

Wart Forest

Wart forest.png
  • Dense Forest made up of soul sand and Nether wart blocks.
  • Great area to gather Nether wart for potions.

Nether Jungle

Nether Jungle.png
  • Made up of Stalgnate, Nether Grass, and Lucis Spores and occasionally Black Bushes.
  • Not large in size but may pose some threat due to the Stalgnates acting as blockades.

Gravel desert

Gravel Desert.png
  • Barren wasteland with some fauna littered around such as: Barrel Cactus, Nether Cactus, Agave, and Mushrooms.
  • Cincinnasite ore spawns in the gravel throughout the biome, and is easy to spot, making it a good area to search for some.
  • Caution should be taken as the flat, empty terrain allows a lot of Pinkies to spawn.

Nether wastes

Nether Wastes.png
  • A common biome also found in vanilla Minecraft, also littered with mobs due to its flat and empty nature.
  • May contain a few fires littered around and some lava, only other defining feature being Netherack Speleothem.

Mushroom Forest

Mushroom Forest.png
  • A forest filled with mushroom trees akin to mushroom island contains: Gray Mold, Orange Mushroom (they aren't actually orange), Red Mold, Nether Wart, Mushroom trees and regular mushrooms.
  • The floor is actually made from Nether Mycelium although expect normal Nether mobs to still spawn.

Lava Lake

Lava Lake.png
  • Most common biome, occasionally may contain obsidian glaciers and giant skeletal remains.

Structures

Nether Doomlike Dungeon

Nether Fortress.png
  • A large dungeon made of nether brick, similar to a vanilla nether fortress.
  • Interiors are bigger then normal and spawners can now host a variety of nether mobs, ranging from magma cubes to behemoths and trites.
  • Loot is mostly bread, potions, silver and iron weapons, and iron, gold, silver, and diamonds, but chests guarded by higher tier mobs can have diamond tools, nether stars and beacons, and more high quality items.
  • May contain wither spawners.

Lycanite dungeon

Lycanite Dungeon.png
  • Like the Overworld the Nether contains Lycanite dungeons, however the dungeons themselves are unique to the Nether.
  • Inside hosts a wide range of cinders, behemoths, archviles and many more dangerous mobs.
  • The dungeons available in the Nether are: Ashen Mausoleum, Demonic temple, and Aberrant station.

Battle tower

Battle tower.png
  • Mostly the same as battle towers in the Overworld.
  • Refer to Battletowers page for more info.

Tips

Surviving the Nether

The main dangers of RLCraft's Nether are:

To combat the heat, one could use Ozzy Liners or Cooling Liners, or Ice Armor, which has the drawback of not offering much Armor. A powerful alternative is the Heat Resistance Potion, which can be extended indefinitely with Wine.

Water cannot be placed in the Nether, so care should be taken into gathering juices and Purified Water before entering.

The Lycanite Mobs utilize a lot of fire and speed so caution should be taken to avoid getting rushed and overwhelmed. The fire can typically be negated by an Obsidian Skull, or even better, a Dragon's Eye. Dungeons utilize a lot of mobs so crowd control should be a major focus when tackling one.

Invisibility

  • Potion of Invisibility can trivialize most Nether monsters. Grell and Grigori can still see you. Invisibility works only while your armor slots are either unequipped or leather.
